Our cleanup work
What Our Water Damage Cleanup in Memphis Includes
Water damage cleanup starts once the leak is stopped. We remove the water, take out what is ruined, then clean and dry the rest. It is one part of our full water damage restoration in Memphis.

Water Removal
Standing water comes off the floors first. Nothing can be cleaned or dried while it is still sitting there.
Careful Tear-Out
We remove only what cannot be dried, like swollen particleboard or soaked insulation. Everything else stays.
Cleaning and Sanitizing
Floors, lower walls, cabinet bases and subfloor get cleaned and sanitized, so no dirty residue is left behind.
Odor Control
A sour, musty smell means something is still wet. We find the source and deal with it, so the smell does not come back after we leave.
Moisture Testing
Thermal cameras and moisture meters show water hiding in walls and under floors, so nothing wet gets closed back up.
Drying Setup
Air movers and dehumidifiers go where the readings say they are needed, and they stay until the area is dry.
Save or replace
What We Can Save and What Has to Go
The first thing most people ask is, "Are you going to tear out my walls?" Usually not all of them. We save as much as we can, because every piece we remove has to be replaced later.
What we keep depends on three things: what the material is, what kind of water touched it, and how long it stayed wet.

Usually saved
Materials We Can Often Dry in Place
Wood framing and studs
Solid wood dries well once air can reach it.
Hardwood floors
Often saved when drying starts fast. Mild cupping can flatten as the boards dry.
Tile, stone and concrete
Clean water does not hurt them. We dry the surface and what sits under it.
Solid wood cabinets
Usually dried in place. We may pull the toe kick to dry underneath.
Firm drywall wet with clean water
Often dried in place if we get to it early and it has not gone soft.
Usually removed
Materials That Usually Need to Come Out
Wet insulation
It holds water like a sponge and keeps the wall wet for weeks.
Particleboard and MDF
It swells, crumbles and does not go back to shape. Common in cabinet bases and baseboards.
Soft or sagging drywall
Once it loses its strength, drying will not bring it back.
Soaked carpet pad
It traps water and dirty residue under the floor covering.
Anything soaked by sewage
Porous materials that touched black water are not safe to keep.
A sewer backup is Category 3 water and a different job. Anything porous it soaks has to go, and every surface gets disinfected. See how our sewage cleanup service handles it.
Room by room
Water Damage Cleanup Room by Room
Where the water came from changes the cleanup. A slow drip under a sink and a burst pipe cleanup in a crawl space are very different jobs. These are the rooms we work in most across Memphis homes.
Kitchens
A dishwasher or ice maker line can drip for days before anyone sees it. Water runs under the cabinets, so we check inside the cabinet bases and the floor next to them.
Bathrooms
A toilet overflow counts as gray water, even when it looks clean. We sanitize the floor and the bottom of the walls, and check the ceiling of the room below.
Laundry Rooms
A washer leak often soaks the wall behind the machine and the hallway outside the door. We pull the washer out and test the wall and floor all around it.
Crawl Spaces and Basements
Many Memphis homes sit over a crawl space. A pipe break down there can soak the vapor barrier, the insulation and the wood floor above. Wet material comes out and the space gets dried.
Ceilings and Upper Floors
In a Memphis summer, a clogged AC drain pan in the attic can overflow for weeks. Wet ceiling drywall gets heavy, so keep everyone out from under a sagging spot.
What to expect
What Happens During Your Cleanup
Most cleanups take a few visits, and the average job is done in 3 to 5 days. Here is what each visit looks like.
- 01
First visit
Inspect and Remove Water
Furniture and belongings get moved out of the water first. Then we find where it came from, test how far it spread and start getting it out.
- 02
Same day
Tear-Out and Cleaning
Materials that cannot be saved come out. Then we clean and sanitize what stays and set up the drying equipment.
- 03
Days 2 to 4
Readings and Adjustments
The equipment runs day and night. We come back to take readings and move equipment to the spots that are still wet.
- 04
Final visit
Dry Readings and Walkthrough
When every area reads dry, we pick up the equipment and walk you through what was done. The area is then ready for your contractor to make repairs.

Know your limits
When a Shop Vac and Towels Are Not Enough
A small spill on a tile floor, caught right away, is often a towel job. Most leaks are bigger than they look. Water runs under flooring and into walls where you cannot see it.
If a lot of water is still standing, start with our emergency water removal service. Cleanup comes right after.
Safety first
Do not step into water that touches outlets, cords or appliances. If you smell gas, leave the house and call 911 or your gas company. If a ceiling is sagging, keep everyone out of that room.
Call a cleanup crew if any of these are true:
- The water sat for more than a day before you found it
- Water ran under the flooring, baseboards or cabinets
- The floor feels soft or the boards have started to cup
- The bottom of a wall is stained, bubbling or soft
- A musty smell shows up a few days later
- The water came from a toilet, a drain or outside flooding
- The leak reached a ceiling or the floor below

Commercial
Water Damage Cleanup for Memphis Businesses
Leaks at work often spread farther before anyone sees them. A pipe can break over the weekend, or a restroom can overflow into the floor below.
We handle water damage cleanup in Memphis offices and other commercial spaces. The crew, the equipment and the moisture testing are the same ones we bring to homes.
Moisture readings for each area tell you, your landlord or your property manager when a space is dry and ready to use again.
Insurance
Records That Help Your Insurance Claim
Adjusters want proof of what got wet and what was done about it. We keep that record for you. Hold on to your plumber's repair bill too, because it shows what caused the leak.
- Moisture readings for every wet area, from the first day to the final dry reading
- Cleanup that follows your insurance company's guidelines for loss mitigation
- Billing sent straight to your insurance company after your covered loss gets a claim number

FAQ
Water Damage Cleanup FAQs
Have a question that is not listed here? Call us and talk to a real person on our Memphis team.
How soon should water damage cleanup start?
As soon as you can. The EPA advises drying wet materials within 24 to 48 hours to prevent mold. A technician is usually at your door within 2 to 4 hours of your call, nights and weekends included.
Do I need a plumber before you start?
The leak has to be stopped first. Shut off the main water valve, then call a plumber to repair the pipe or fixture. You do not have to wait for the repair to call us. Removing the water and drying can start while the plumbing gets fixed.
Will you have to cut out my drywall?
Not always. Firm drywall wet with clean water can often be dried in place. If it is soft, swollen or touched by dirty water, we cut out only the wet part. This is usually a straight cut a little above the water line, called a flood cut.
Will you have to pull up my floors?
It depends on the floor. Tile and concrete are dried in place. Hardwood can often be saved if drying starts fast. Laminate and floating floors trap water underneath and often need to come up so the subfloor can dry.
Can I stay in my home during the cleanup?
Often, yes, when the water was clean and only part of the house is affected. The drying equipment is loud and warms the room, so plan around it. If the water came from a sewer or toilet, keep children and pets away from that area until it is cleaned.
Why does my house still smell musty after the water is gone?
A musty smell usually means something is still wet. It can be the pad under the floor, insulation in a wall or wood under the cabinets. Moisture testing finds the spot so it can be dried or removed.
Can I clean up a small leak myself?
A small spill of clean water on a hard floor, wiped up right away, is fine to handle yourself. If water got under the flooring, into a wall or sat for more than a day, call a pro. You cannot see that moisture without a meter.
