What we do
Flood Damage Restoration Services in Memphis
When a storm or a rising creek puts water inside, our crew handles the flood cleanup from the first pump to the last dry reading. It is the flood side of our water damage restoration in Memphis.
- Pumping out flood water with submersible pumps and extractors
- Getting furniture and belongings out of the water's path
- Removing mud, debris and materials the water ruined
- Cleaning and disinfecting the surfaces that stay
- Drying the structure until the readings say it is dry
- Boarding up broken windows and doors after a storm
We do not do the rebuild. Once everything is clean and dry, a repair contractor of your choice puts the walls and floors back.

Not a normal leak
Why Flood Water Needs a Different Cleanup
A leak from a supply line is clean water. Flood water picks up everything it crosses on the way in, so the cleanup rules are stricter.
What Flood Water Can Carry Into Your Home
- Sewage from overflowing drains
- Bacteria and viruses
- Fuel, oil and lawn chemicals
- Mud and street debris
That is why flood water counts as Category 3, the most contaminated type. Keep children and pets out of it.
What Usually Has to Be Thrown Out
Porous materials soak up what the water carried. Drying does not get it out.
- Drywall the water touched, cut a little above the water line
- Wet insulation in walls and floors
- Carpet and pad
- Mattresses and upholstered furniture
- Particleboard cabinets and furniture
What Can Often Be Cleaned and Kept
Hard materials that do not soak up water can stay after cleaning, disinfecting and drying.
- Solid wood framing and studs
- Concrete slabs and block walls
- Tile, metal and glass
- Most hardwood structure under the flooring
Water that came up through floor drains or toilets is a sewer problem, not a flood. That job is covered by our sewage backup cleanup service.
Local flooding
How Flooding Happens in Memphis
Memphis sits where several rivers and creeks meet the Mississippi, and heavy storms are common. Most flood calls we get start in one of these three ways.
Flash Flooding After Heavy Storms
A slow-moving spring or summer storm can drop more rain than the storm drains can carry. Low streets and yards fill first, and the water finds its way under doors and into garages.
Creeks and Rivers Backing Up
When the Mississippi runs high, the Wolf River, the Loosahatchie and Nonconnah Creek cannot drain into it and back up instead. In May 2011, that sent evacuation notices to more than 1,300 Memphis homes.
Water Pushing Into Basements and Crawl Spaces
Soaked ground pushes water through foundation cracks, window wells and crawl space vents. It often shows up hours after the rain stops, and flooded basement cleanup starts with pumping it back out.
First steps
What to Do After Your Home Floods
After a flood, the first hours are about staying safe and keeping a record. The cleanup can wait until you are both.
If you smell gas, get everyone out of the house first, then phone 911 or the gas company. Do not switch lights or power back on until an electrician says it is safe.
- 1
Wait until it is safe to go in
Stay out while water is still rising or moving. Keep clear of any water near outlets, extension cords or the breaker panel.
- 2
Protect your skin
Wear rubber boots and gloves. Flood water can make you sick, so wash with clean water if it touches you.
- 3
Take photos before anything moves
Photograph the water line on the walls, the floors and damaged belongings. Your insurer will ask for them.
- 4
Call your insurance company
Report the flood and ask which policy it falls under. More on that below.
- 5
Call us to start the cleanup
We answer 24/7 and can bring pumps for deep water.
How it works
Our Flood Cleanup Process, Step by Step
- 01
Safety Check and Water Removal
We check for power and structural hazards, carry contents clear of the water and start flood water removal with submersible pumps and extractors.
- 02
Muck-Out and Tear-Out
Mud and debris come out first. Then we remove the drywall, insulation and flooring the flood water soaked.
- 03
Cleaning What Stays
Framing, concrete and other hard surfaces are cleaned and disinfected, so nothing the water carried is left behind.
- 04
Drying and Moisture Readings
Air movers and dehumidifiers run day and night. We track every wet area with meters and thermal cameras until it reaches the dry goal. Floods usually take longer to dry than a clean leak.
- 05
Ready for Your Repair Contractor
With the structure clean and dry, your contractor can start putting walls and floors back.
Insurance
Flood Insurance and Your Claim
Many homeowners find out after a flood that their policy does not cover it. Here is what to check. Our water mitigation page explains why insurers want the cleanup started fast.
Homeowners Insurance vs. Flood Insurance
Most homeowners policies do not cover flood damage. Flood coverage is a separate policy, often through FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program, and a new policy usually has a 30-day waiting period.
A Sewer Backup Is Not the Same as a Flood
Water that backs up through your drains is usually covered, if at all, by a separate sewer backup add-on to a homeowners policy. Check which one applies before you file.
Records We Keep for Your Adjuster
Readings for each wet room, logged from day one until it reaches the dry goal. Once your covered loss has a claim number, our bill goes to your insurance company.
General information, not insurance advice. Your policy wording decides what is covered.

- $3.50 to $7.50
- Clean water at the low end
- Flood water (Category 3)

- Across all water damage jobs
National estimates from HomeAdvisor (2025) and Angi (2026) cost data, not our prices. These figures can include repairs. Our work covers water removal, cleanup and drying. Repair costs come from your contractor.
What Raises or Lowers the Cost
- How many square feet got wet
- How deep the water was and how long it sat
- What has to be torn out (drywall, insulation, flooring)
- Basement or crawl space access
- How many days of drying the structure needs
- Board-up, if a storm broke windows or doors
Calling early is the easiest way to keep the cost down. Less time wet means less to tear out.

FAQ
Flood Damage Restoration FAQs
Have a question that is not listed here? Call us and talk to a real person on our Memphis team.
Is it safe to clean up flood water myself?
We do not recommend it. Flood water can carry sewage, chemicals and bacteria. If you have to touch it, wear rubber boots and gloves, keep children and pets away and wash with clean water afterward.
Should I wait for the water to go down before calling?
No. Call as soon as you know water got in. We can plan the job and bring pumps for deep water, then start as soon as it is safe to go inside.
How long does flood cleanup take?
Pumping out and removing soaked materials usually takes the first day or two. Drying takes several more days, and floods often run longer than a clean water leak because more material got wet.
Can flooded drywall be saved?
Usually not. Drywall soaked by flood water holds on to what the water carried. We cut it out a little above the water line and keep the wall above it.
What happens to my furniture and belongings?
Before work starts, we carry furniture and belongings to a dry part of the house. Soft items soaked by flood water, like mattresses and upholstered furniture, usually cannot be saved. Hard items like metal and glass can often be cleaned.
Do you clean up flooded businesses?
Yes. We handle flood cleanup for offices, stores and rental properties across Memphis, Shelby County and Tipton County, 24/7.
